SmoothDrive 2.0 Technology for Superior Compressor Control

SmoothDrive 2.0 technology, with its superior compressor control, is key to energy savings in partial load mode. In a conventional VRF system, this power control can be complex, involving both the control of refrigerant evaporation temperature and compressor operation. However, Hitachi Air VRF have developed a superior SmoothDrive method. This operating mechanism utilizes direct power control technology, allowing the compressor to operate continuously and stably even at partial load. This results in a 39% energy saving when operating in partial load mode.

Practical Effectiveness: By minimizing the compressor's on/off cycles, this technology reduces energy waste and maintains absolutely stable room temperature. The actual performance is significantly improved, proven to reduce energy consumption by up to 39% at a 33% partial load. The system's maximum Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) reaches 5.40.

Most of the time, HVAC systems operate at partial load due to ambient conditions, set temperatures, number of users, and the system being designed to exceed its required capacity. As organizations seek to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions by regulating set temperatures within a reasonable range, partial load operation becomes even more important. The Hitachi Air VRF air365 Max utilizes direct power control, combining precise temperature sensing with precise compressor control to balance load and power with less fluctuation. The Demand Response Enabling Device (DRED) allows your power provider to control the system at multiple pre-programmed levels to manage your power demand on the grid during peak hours. The goal is to reduce total power consumption for the supply network during critical peak load times. This feature can be enabled and disabled on individual or centralized Hitachi air conditioner controllers. No additional equipment is required.

The system allows for a total refrigerant pipe length of up to 1,000m, with a maximum actual distance between the outdoor and indoor units of up to 200m. The height difference between the outdoor and indoor units is up to 110m, perfectly accommodating the architectural structure of skyscrapers. High external static pressure (ESP) of up to 80Pa allows for installation of the outdoor unit directly in the building's ventilation technical rooms.
